$13.99 for my free month? I don’t think so!
Remember me telling you about my free month of Netflix? It turns out that I wasn’t supposed to have been the recipient of the email toting this offer. Supposedly it is a glitch in their system, and (I guess) they figured they could get away with charging me for signing back up. Not so fast, Netflix! I only discovered the charge when reviewing my statement yesterday. First of all, I’ve never subscribed to anything above their $7.99 plan and secondly, I canceled immediately to avoid any future charges. After chatting with a representative and hearing numerous excuses why they couldn’t refund my money, I asked for a supervisor. Long story short, I am being credited that $13.99. I made sure to save a screenshot of the conversation and will watch for that refund! Will I miss Netflix? Not really. I still have Amazon Prime, and that gives me more than enough options.
In other news, I am almost ready to send our taxes off to our CPA. We’ve used the same CPA for well over 20 years, so I was relieved that he was willing to continue doing them even though we moved some 400+ miles away. My hold up with getting the taxes mailed is my printer. It not so conveniently went on the fritz when I went to print some business forms. Such is life. At least the majority of the legwork is done. From what I can tell, we should (do I dare say?) be okay with taxes this year. While we made more, we also paid a lot more in taxes. As for the printer, I’m planning a trip to town towards the end of the week and will buy a new one then. I’m still ahead of schedule for getting our taxes sent in, so I’m good with that!
Our weather continues to be cold. Today, in fact, I received an auto-generated phone message saying that the frost has gone deeper and there were people in my community who had experienced frozen pipes. The call also mentioned that we’ve had less snow, which means less insulation. We have a private well, but I’ll still play it safe and take heed and keep the water running at a trickle. On a positive note, the days are steadily getting longer, and I’ll take that as a hint of Spring!
Our electric bill this month was well below our budgeted $75. It came in at just over $53. Our statements always say these are actual readings, but who knows? In the 2+ years we’ve lived here, I’ve never seen anyone read our meter. As to why the bill was less? I have no idea, but I’m thankful it was!
Our two smallest debts (American Express and the surgeon) will be paid off by the end of the week. Woohoo! I cannot wait! We are still waiting on the refund from our escrow, so this is thanks to something else. I’ll share more about that in a day or so. Don’t you just love suspense? Lol And on that note, I’ll sign off for the day!
~Meanwhile, keep fighting the good fight…A Dime at a Time!~
