Extended Warranty?

Our Subaru will be two years old in a few weeks.  I had it in for the scheduled 30,000-mile service two days ago.  I wouldn’t say I like that I’ve put this many miles on our car in two years, but that’s life.  We live a fair distance from the city; I worked four days a week and made three extra trips downstate (not including the one for MIL’s funeral) to deal with all the estate stuff.  Now that I’m no longer working, we aren’t putting near as many miles on our car. Leave no stone, um, dime, unturned. Let’s talk Frugality Overload.

Leave no stone dime unturned.

“If you say that you will leave no stone unturned, you are emphasizing that you will try every way you can think of in order to achieve what you want.”  ~ Collins Dictionary.

Being focused on handling our finances using the approach of A Dime at a Time, I prefer my version of this old saying!  For years now, I have done a lot of blog reading related to frugality.  Add watching YouTube to the mix, and that is a whole lot of frugality! [Read more…]

Warmer weather with a hint of spring!

Today we reached a balmy 25 degrees!  The sun was shining, and not one snowflake was in the air.  I can’t remember the last time we’ve had a snowless day!  I spent a fair amount of time clearing snow on the driveway, the decks, and our various pathways.  Snowblowing and shoveling, but it felt so good to feel the sun on my face.  [Read more…]

What a messed-up week for Hubs.  He is still in his “new-to-him” rig.  This morning, he decided that if they fix the issues, it *might* not be too bad of a truck after all.  All of this, of course, is subject to change as different dash lights and noises occur.  Hubs could be back to thinking it is a pile of garbage by the end of the day, but hey, let’s think positive!  [Read more…]

Estate Update and other happenings

January 26, 2022 By: Lucy2 Comments

Today I attended mandatory training for being a township Board of Review member.  It started early (for me) at 9 AM and lasted just under three hours.  The training was held at the township I previously worked for several years ago.  They’ve made some nice improvements to the interior of the building since I left.  It was good to see some familiar faces, including the assessor of that township.  Our board is still short a member, and we also have no alternates—small-town politics.  It is hard to find people willing to serve.  Finding people might help if they would pay a little better.  [Read more…]

Update Time!

Yikes!  After playing the “what if” game probably more times than I should, I decided to go for it and let our checking account get a smidge lower than my usual comfort level.  I went ahead and made one final payment for the month.  I need to remind myself that all funds are accounted for, […]
