Random Thoughts Continued

March 24, 2019 By: Lucy8 Comments

I’m back at it today with my random thoughts.  This post will more or less be a continuation from yesterday’s post.  I do plan on working later on, but since it is for my own business, I’m setting the hours!  Shamefully, I’ve done very little over the past month in this area.  A combination of the weather and not being able to get up and down my driveway set me back with sending in inventory. Expiring Rates and Other Random Thoughts

March 23, 2019 By: Lucy10 Comments

Today I feel full of random thoughts, with a lot of them focusing on expiring interest rates.  I realize that these deadlines cause me a lot of stress.  One would think that given how far we’ve come on our journey to conquer our debt, it would get easier.  But (at least for me), it hasn’t.  I continue to scrutinize every account, every dollar, every scenario…you get the drift.  My mind won’t let me coast along with the ride.  I need to feel that I’m doing something…anything…to keep moving it along, even if it is just thinking about it!  Poor Hubs gets tired of hearing about it, so having my blog to vent is a good thing. Summer Project Savings

March 22, 2019 By: Lucy8 Comments

Feels a little strange thinking about a Summer project, especially given that we still have several feet of snow on the ground.  Even though we are still in debt, we are planning for home improvements.  Last year Hubs built a 5 x 24 dock.  Although I wouldn’t classify it as a need, it was a fun project for Hubs and made for an awesome addition to our property.  Our plans for 2019 will focus more on necessities. A Positive Send-Off

March 18, 2019 By: Lucy14 Comments

Hubs is back to work today.  With having a flight leave right at dinner time, I planned ahead.   I packed him a sandwich, chips, mandarin oranges, and a coke to eat/drink while we were waiting for the security area to open.  We live over an hour away from the airport, and I knew he would likely be wanting something to eat before his plane departed.  Far cheaper and tastier than what the small store in our airport sells.  But, his positive send-off actually started when we stopped for our mail before heading out to the airport.   [Read more…]

Restless Night, Pharmacy Savings and Movie Night

Where has the week gone?

March 15, 2019 By: Lucy16 Comments

Goodness, I’m way overdue for giving an update.  Thanks, One Family, for checking in on me!  Also, I want to give a shout out to commenter Sue for reaching out to me via email.  Sue paid off another debt, so that is fantastic news! [Read more…]

No Answers and a Mini Update

March 4, 2019 By: Lucy4 Comments

Our homeowner’s insurance adjuster has come and gone.  He snapped a couple of pictures and said he couldn’t do much else until the snow is gone.  No real surprise there.  I have his business card and will call him in a few months.  The next time he comes out, I’d like Hubs to be home.  My impression of the adjuster is that he might give us some grief with the claim.  I’m hoping I’m wrong. Deck/Furnace Update

March 3, 2019 By: Lucy6 Comments

It has been a busy few days since I posted about our deck collapse/furnace exhaust pipe issue.  On Friday, a bandaid fix was done on the exhaust pipe, so I again have heat and hot water.  At the cost of $500, it wasn’t cheap, but this will also fall under our insurance claim. [Read more…]

Just when you think things can’t get any worse, they can!

February 28, 2019 By: Lucy14 Comments

You read the post title correctly.  Just when you think things can’t get any worse, they can, and they have.  No, no, no.  I’m feeling weak (and cold!) and seriously can’t take much more! [Read more…]

Snow Central

February 24, 2019 By: Lucy16 Comments

As forecasted, we are getting hammered with snow.  Combined with what we got yesterday and what will likely fall today, we are looking close to two feet of new snow from this storm.  From what I saw on the local news, this is the snowiest season this area has seen since 1997. [Read more…]

Getting Bids

We received the first bid for replacing our deck that collapsed under heavy snow.  It came in at a little over $15,000.  Keep in mind that this is a large deck, measuring 8 x 40 feet.  The work would also involve removing (and disposing of) the old one plus take care of the damage to […]
