Sad Days

April 7, 2019 By: Lucy18 Comments

Very sadly, our boy has not returned home.  I’ve shed a fountain of tears.  We will likely never know what happened to him, and I can only pray that he didn’t suffer. Initially, I was going to write a longer post about this loss, but I realize I just can’t.  Right now the pain is too raw.  Our other dog (and the sicklier of the two) is thankfully handling it surprisingly well.  Oh, if only he could talk and tell us where his brother went.

Anyhow, I just wanted to pop in and let you all know how much I appreciate your kinds words and prayers.  Losing a pet is never easy, no matter what the circumstances.

Here is one of the last pictures I took of him.  He had been having trouble getting on the couch, so I made up a makeshift cushion for him on the floor.  The picture is a bit grainy as it was just meant to be a quick snapshot to send to the Hubs.  Rest in Peace, Old Boy.  We will never forget you.

I am very sorry. Try not to give up though. I am sure you have done this, but have you contacted local vet clinics or rescues. Also, is there a Facebook page for lost pets in your area ? You never know that someone might have found him.
There is always hope. I had a cat disappear and just when I thought I would never see her again she showed up 2 weeks later. She was 18 years old at the time. There is always hope.

I keep looking. He had tags with both the vet’s name/number and another showing he is also registered in our county. We also have a very good animal shelter that updates found pets. Neighbors are also aware. Glad your cat came back. What I’d give to see my boy safely home again.

I’m so sorry. Leave items with your scent and your other dogs scent around your property line in case he is lost. It can help them find their way home.

Thanks. I’m still hoping he comes home, but my hunch is something got him. I feel beyond guilty for not keeping my eye on him.

I’m so sorry! He was well loved and lived a good life – hope a miracle happens and you find him.

Thanks. He certainly had a good life. From being dumped as a young puppy (a snowplow driver found him and 6 siblings in a trash bag) to living on a lake, his life was full of love. I’m thankful for the 15 1/2 years we had with him.

Ten Miscellaneous Things about Lucy

Today’s post is brought to you thanks to a reply from a comment I made over at Sluggy’s blog, Don’t Read; This, It’s Boring.  She replied that she had not heard about me traveling the world.  With that in mind, I decided to write this “Ten miscellaneous things about Lucy” post.
