We did it!  Discover (aka The Beast) is meeting its demise.  Just yesterday, I picked up the check from the sale of our travel trailer.  I wasted no time bringing it to our local credit union and was shocked when they were able to clear the funds without any wait time.  I had figured there would be at least 10-day delay.  The teller did need to place a call to the bank the check was drawn on, and then told me I could use the funds immediately.  So, after I got back home, I went online, scheduled two payments and hit submit!  One will kill off The Beast, and the other $3,500 will significantly reduce what we owe on our car.  With Monday being a holiday, those accounts should be receiving their funds on Tuesday/Wednesday.  You know I’ll anxiously be checking to see the impact!

So where do our numbers stand once these payments are received?

Car:        $1,528.08

Citi:        $6,350 (I went crazy and paid an extra $30 to bring it down to the next $50.  Lol)

Visa:       $8,751.95

Total:      $16,630.03

From the proceeds of the trailer, we did hold back some money to cover snow tires for our car and also boost our sinking funds.  Seeing our sinking funds get closer to where they need to be will help me sleep better at night.

Looking ahead, I think we may be able to pay off the car in full before November rolls around.  In addition to our growing snowball, we also have a refund (I’m guesstimating around $400) coming from the annual insurance we paid in August for the trailer.  I won’t miss paying that yearly bill either!  No matter what, I’m going to give it everything I have.  I want this debt gone!

In other news, we had our first snowfall of the season. It is way too early to see the white stuff!  The sky being so overcast made for a gloomy picture.  🙁

    Goodbye to THE BEAST!

I grew up in Alaska and remember that weird quality of overcast, snowy light. It lends everything a blue cast . . . pretty if you appreciate a change in seasons.

Thank you! I don’t do heat, so anything above 75 is too hot for me!

Congrats! Now the car loan will be paid off in no time, too. Please keep the snow where you are, haha. I’m not ready for it yet, though it is beautiful

Thanks! I’ve become so crazy about getting it paid off, my dogs are now living in fear of being sold. Lol Snow is absolutely something you don’t need with a house being built!

No Answers and a Mini Update

Our homeowner’s insurance adjuster has come and gone.  He snapped a couple of pictures and said he couldn’t do much else until the snow is gone.  No real surprise there.  I have his business card and will call him in a few months.  The next time he comes out, I’d like Hubs to be home. […]
