This and That

May 10, 2019 By: Lucy9 Comments

It has been well over a week since I updated the blog.  Not good!  I wish I had a valid reason, but my lack of doing so is pretty much a lot of “this and that” happenings.

I put up with a cold/allergies for a good week.  My hunch is it was more of a cold as nothing is even budding in our area.  The kiddo came down with it first, so likely passed it on to me — nothing like taking a direct hit from the spray of a child’s sneeze.  I still went to work but masked the fact that I felt like my head was going to explode by loading up on enough cold/allergy meds to knock out an elephant.

We had another round of snow.  This time it was about 4 inches.  Thankfully it was so wet that it melted within a day.  We still have several piles of it, but it is mostly in shaded areas.  Our lake is now ice-free.  Good to see the open waters again.  Too early and cold for boats yet, although I did see one crazy fool on a jet ski a few days ago.

I’ve been doing a lot of purging, mostly of old paperwork that is no longer needed.  I also have some items that need to go to my kids the next time I take a trip downstate.  My eagerness to minimalize stems a lot from cleaning out my dad’s condo. I’ve also had a few friends share their own horror stories with me, and I am bound and determined not to do this to my kids.  Fortunately, my dad’s place wasn’t terrible, but some things for sure could have been let go of many years ago.  I wish Hubs and his sisters weren’t so afraid of their mother.  She hasn’t lived in her house for well over five years and wants nothing disposed of, not even food that expired 20 years ago.  When the time does come, it is going to be a mess to clean out.

Not a lot going on with our debt payoff.  Today I paid June’s mortgage payment.  Doing so doesn’t save on interest, but I like knowing it is taken care of for another month.  The four walls come first.  I did have enough left over in our account to send $400 to our furnace debt.  I’m hoping to pay off another $400 next week.  Little by little, I am chipping away at it.

I’ve been doing more with M-Turks again.  I tend to be a bit on and off with doing that.  I need to be more disciplined like One Family.  This month I’ve been trying to follow her example of at least $5/day (Mon-Fri) and have already managed to earn $46.  You probably don’t need to ask what I’m doing with my earnings!

I can’t believe you got more snow! I’m glad for you that it melted quickly. Four hundred dollars is a pretty big chunk to throw at the furnace debt, yay!

Trust me, we couldn’t believe it either! We’ve had a record year for snow. I’m super excited to be snowballing the furnace!

I’ve had a pretty good week (though not today) with M-Turks. I earned between $7 and $12 a day, which I was happy with. Glad you are over your cold and feeling better.

You did great this week! I’m up to $7.52 for today, not counting the $2.45 I received as a bonus. How often do you cash out your earnings?

I got a few bonus’s too. One was $1.45, the others were small. I’ve been cashing in when I get to $25. The transfer time has gotten quicker. When I transfer to Amazon payments its taking a day or less and then I transfer to my bank acct and that is only taking a day now.

I’ve noticed that too. I ususally see my money in my account within a day. Sweet deal!

I’m sure it is the kiddo! I’m thinking after 16 years of working at the elementary school and the last 8 years volunteering, I am immune to just about everything since I have had a REALLY good year of not getting colds or the flu ::knock on wood:: !!!! I just can’t believe your weather – it is so bizarre to me – we have been in the high 80’s all week and the pool is almost ready for swimming. I don’t think we have EVER been able to go in until the very end of June at the earliest!!! Weird weather everywhere!!!

Mother-in-laws house is NOT going to be fun – expired food…..yikes!! We had to deal with about 20 years worth of Soap Opera Digests and pens from EVERY SINGLE BUSINESS she ever visited in her entire life. Thankfully she lived in a small apartment and not a large house!!!

I haven’t tried M-Turks, I’ve been doing Swagbucks and making myself try to earn at least $75 in gift cards every month. I think I’ve done it since the first of the year. We’ve been using them at Sam’s & Wal-Mart and now I’ll be getting them for gifts for the kids for Christmas.

Great job on the furnace – that is a huge chunk!!!!

Those darn kids spreading their germs. Lol

Here it is May 14 and we still have a little snow on the ground. I hope you don’t end up with a extremely hot summer.

Isn’t it crazy what some people keep? I refuse to hoard things. I don’t want my kids to have a mess to clean up once I’m gone.

I used to do Swagbucks, but found M-Turks easier. Either way, you are earning some extra $ so that is what matters! It all helps!

Sorry to hear that you were down with a cold. Glad you are feeling better, now. Sounds like you are doing well with paying down the furnace debt. I should follow your example and get rid of a lot of things. I’m guilty of holding on to a lot of paper (and other stuff). Hope you continue to have a good month.

First one down.

Thanks to a totally unexpected blessing! So very excited to report that we will be paying off IN FULL our smallest debt of $2,550.  This is one that we needed to have paid off by May to avoid any interest charges.  To say that I am excited would be a total understatement!  And to what […]
