Too Much Stuff Challenge On Steroids!

January 8, 2022 By: Lucy2 Comments

I know my Too Much Stuff Challenge plan was to dispose of/donate one item per day, but today, I went above and beyond that!  I think my motivation stemmed from dropping off all that other stuff yesterday.  Knowing I’d be driving by the thrift store next Wednesday, I couldn’t stop myself from wanting to gather up more items.  Between talking to Hubs and replying to some emails, I managed to get my count up to fifty things!  Woohoo!  Here is my list… a good thing I was tracking these items on a notepad!

  1. Travel Mug
  2. Pitcher
  3. Canister set
  4. bowl set
  5. flower vase
  6. decorative bird
  7. lamp and shade
  8. wall picture
  9. 2nd wall picture
  10. seven Christmas mugs
  11. bulb planter
  12. roll of shelf liner
  13. two “Y” adapters (new in package)
  14. seven VHS tapes (found deep in the back of our basement entertainment center!)
  15. 2nd decorative bird
  16. New gift boxes (sealed)
  17. New gift bags (sealed)
  18. All occasion cards
  19. Sewing/craft ribbon (misc Ziploc bag full)
  20. Bag of Christmas bows
  21. Halloween Treat Bags
  22. Gift Tags
  23. Gift Tin
  24. Throw blanket
  25. Birch decorative basket
  26. Ziploc bag of misc. curling ribbon
  27. Outdoor seasonal sign
  28. Easter Basket Bag
  29. Two Christmas tree ornaments
  30. Package of car air fresheners (new, of course!)
  31. puzzle
  32. glass vase
  33. Leather wallet
  34. four books
  35. CD set
  36. DVD set
  37. Photo storage
  38. Photo album
  39. Pedometer
  40. Wireless charger
  41. Decorative clear glass item (insert: dust collector!)
  42. Clear garbage bag of shipping peanuts
  43. Christmas dishes (set)
  44. Set of wine glasses (I think these were a wedding gift.  We don’t drink)
  45. Eight misc. everyday drinking glasses
  46. Crock-Pot multi-function cooker (I received this from my neighbor but didn’t like the way it worked)
  47. Christmas table cloth
  48. Shirt
  49. Small bear that was given to me by a friend.  The tag said 2006!
  50. Handmade lace doily, also a gift.

None of these items were displayed or being used.  Some things came with our house.  I felt a smidge guilty about parting ways with some items (things received as gifts), but there is a time and season for everything.  It is perfectly okay to let go of things ~ you just need to be ready, and you’ll know when the time is right.

Tomorrow I plan to make some freezer meals, plus I have some house cleaning to do.  I’ll also continue my hunt for my remaining 25 items!

Don’t leave money on the table!

Digging out of debt takes focus! I almost left $3.29 on the table.  Well, not literally.  It was $3.29 that I had coming back to me from Walmart’s Saving Catcher app.  Thank you to fellow blogger over at One Family One Income for the reminder to collect what I almost left behind.  This was from a […]
