Update Time 3/27/18

March 27, 2018 By: Lucy24 Comments

Although the end of the month is still a few days away, I have made all the payments I can comfortably make for March.  We have one more check coming, but it won’t be in our account until Friday.  Tempting as it is, I know better than to make a payment without the money first being there.

Thanks to both a healthy tax and escrow refund, March was a good month for us-even with the hefty car repair.  We more than reached our goal of paying off a minimum of $1,500.  Our starting debt on March 1 was $41,344.43, and as of today, our debt is $37,828.97 which brings our debt payoff to $3,515.36 for the month!  Woohoo!  I am pleased!  Here is a summary of our numbers:

2017         $55,749.69

2018        $46,408.39

Current  $37,828.97

Itemized debt remaining:

CC#1       $2,100        0%

CC#2      $7,000        0%

Car          $7,031.40   1.99%

CC #3     $9,747.57    5.99%

CC#4      $11,950        0%

Our debt snowball is around $700ish, so I hope to have CC#1 paid off in June, if not sooner.  Our income is very irregular, hence not having a set-in-stone number.  As the minimums drop on the other debts, it also means we have more to throw at our smallest.

Now that we have made it into the 30s, I cannot wait until we are in the 20s!  It will happen…A Dime at a Time!

This is so great. You will really feel great when that first CC bill is gone and you can see that snowball growing. Just finding the money in my monthly budget has helped me attack the house loan. I have April < may and June to get rid of the $4,500.00. I hope I can do it. So far so good. But anything can happen, and it usually does. We can maybe have a mini celebration in June.

Without a doubt, the snowball method works. With your positive attitude, you’ll have that $4,500 paid off right on schedule, if not sooner! Looking forward to a huge celebration!

Lucy! I saw that you are out of the $40s and into the $30s! This is great news, and I am thrilled for you and DH that your faithfulness to paying extra on your debt is showing some great progress. Woo Hoo! I want to report to you that as of this month’s mortgage payment, Hubby and I have paid off 2/3 of our mortgage. We will be doing our taxes soon, and any refund we get I will put towards the principal. March was a spendy month for us and April will be also. We have 2 nieces getting married 2 weeks apart in 2 different towns several hours away from us. Thankful for our savings to help defray some of the expenses of the bridal showers we helped host this month. It is all good, but out of the normal type expenses, luckily we had time to plan for them. Keep up the good work. 🙂

Chris, your mortgage news is so exciting! I love your discipline with sending any refund right to your debt. Congrats on the upcoming wedding of your nieces. Cash flowing is the way to go!

RIP Dad. You will be missed.

My father passed away one week ago today.  I received a call on Wednesday as I was getting ready to leave work that he had taken a turn for the worse.  With nursing homes being on lockdown from receiving visitors on account of the Coronavirus, receiving word of his change was our permission to see […]
