Update Time 4/30/2019

April 30, 2019 By: Lucy14 Comments

We are at the end of the month, so I feel that I should give an official update.  For those who have been following along, you already know we paid off the remaining $2,500 owed to Citi.  So not to confuse, $2,500 was our starting balance for April.  For good measure, I checked to make sure our final payment posted.  Balance is a zero. What a beautiful thing!  So how about the rest?

We are down to two baby step 2 debts.  The furnace is now at $5,750 which is a decrease of $150 from last month.  We will be tackling this over the next few months.  The Visa is at $7,611.81 which is down by $161.57.  We are making progress!

My goal for May is to try and reduce the furnace debt by at least $1,200. We have some additional expenses coming up (car insurance, auto tags, car repairs) meaning it will be a push to see this happen.  I already have the cash set aside for the registrations (almost $300), so at least those are covered.  I’m hoping I’m wrong, but the other two expenses may set us back by $1,500.  It is going to be an expensive month, but then again, April was too.

Reviewing our budget for April, we faced over $1,000 worth of additional expenses.  These stemmed from me needing to take a trip for which I rented a vehicle, and then there was the basement issue from last week.  Although parts were only $100, I gave up a weeks pay to cover the labor.  No complaints there though.  A plumber would have been far more expensive.

How did you do in April?  I’d love to hear about it!

Our April was pretty good. We had some bigger expenses, like the AC unit maintenance, but we saw it coming and had budgeted for it. I hope you have a good May!

April was not too bad, but May will be incredibly expensive, as will the rest of the yer for that matter. We just will keep saving where we can.

April was uber expensive but by working my butt off I was still able to get the extra 1000.00 on the house by the skin of my teeth. I am very tired.

April was not great. Between the IRS, vet bills, dd’s birthday (celebrated early since she is moving to Washington tomorrow), and car maintenance (have to keep up the car since we are down to one) it was tough, but we were able to handle everything without using credit cards or taking anything out of savings.

I think giving up a weeks pay was a brilliant idea – a plumber, I’m sure, would have cost so much more!!!

You got slammed in April. How great, though, to NOT put any of it on credit or take from savings! I call that a win!

I cringe at what a plumber would have cost. Although they didn’t want to take anything, I feel better about this. Also, since I had to call off for last Tuesday on account of everything going on, I’m not charging them for Tuesday this week. That way they do indeed get a full week of childcare. I feel it’s the least I can do.

Only 2 left. That has to feel great. Congrats on paying off the Citi card.

Well done on paying off one credit card! It sounds like you have plans in place to pay off the others, too. I hope you are able to make the payments you are planning on making. Looking forward to reading your updates on those.

My April was good. No major expenses, planned or unplanned and that’s just how I like it! 🙂

Thanks. I feel that when we don’t make specific goals, we don’t do as well. As the old saying goes “If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time.” Sounds like you had a perfect month, without any surprises!

After reading several other blogs as well as look at my April, it looks like April was really tough month for all. Let’s all be in prayer that May will be much better!!!

Money before health

Or at least that is the way the hospital makes one feel.  Apparently, the hospital where my Hubby is going for his hernia repair wants to know they will be paid.  Go figure. Why can’t they understand that we are trying to get out of debt and not add to it?  Alas, I do get […]
