Eight Goals For 2022

December 31, 2021 By: Lucy4 Comments

Time to set some goals for 2022.  I haven’t looked back at my past goals, but most likely, many (um, most) will be the same.  For sure, I know I need to do a MUCH better job at accomplishing said goals!  Such a vicious cycle!  So, without further ado, not in any particular order, here are my 2022 goals.

  1. Keep track of EVERY dime spent.  Why does this always seem so difficult?  I will attempt this by keeping it simple this year using good old pen and paper and then total everything at the end of each month.
  2. Continue working on reducing current expenses.  I’m not talking about doing away with everything we enjoy.  An example of this is calling and asking for a discount.  Just yesterday, by doing an easy online chat, I reduced our SiriusXM subscription(s) down to a total of $14.54 per month.  Sure, we could go without it, but this subscription is something we both use and enjoy.  But, getting it at a cheaper rate makes it all the better!
  3. Complete our new workshop/cabin.  At some point (likely 2023), the top part will become our temporary housing while doing some major work on our house.  It needs some minor wiring (Hubs plans to keep it solar), insulation, drywall, and gutters.  Cash flowing is a must.  We will not be using any inheritance money towards this project.
  4. Continue paying a minimum of $700/month in principle off our car loan.  We reduced it to this amount when we started incurring additional expenses getting MIL’s estate settled.  Even when we receive the inheritance, we will not use it to pay off our loan.  We took on this debt, and we want to pay it off on our own.
  5. Blog more.  I feel it helps keep me accountable.  I also want to do a better job of interacting with other bloggers.
  6. Learn more.  My focus is on improving my blog and on personal finance.   I’m not a huge book reader, but I love watching youtube videos and reading blogs.
  7. Eat healthier.  A common goal for many of us, but something to always strive to do!
  8. Review this goal list monthly to help me stay on track!  I may have tried this before.  Will 2022 be the year I make this goal along with the rest happen?  I’ll do my best to keep you posted!

I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!  After the past two years of…well, we all know what, I think we ALL deserve a better year!

Below is yet another image of our shop/cabin.  Work was still being done on it when I took this picture.  One of these days, I’ll get this image issue resolved!

I gave up making New Year goals years ago. I never kept them! But, I really really do want to start eating healthier this year. We were at the grocery store yesterday – did I buy anything healthy? Nope! It’s going to be a challenge for me, that’s for sure.

Keeping them is the challenging part for sure! My philosophy is to never quit trying…and that goes for healthy eating as well!

I made a list of goals mostly the same from last year but I will get to them someday. I really hope to do more touristy things this year in this tourist town we have lived in for almost 25 years. Why should they have all the fun?
    Happy New Year!

Pretty much ditto for me, but I think 2022 might be the year I accomplish my goals. Hmm, I may have thought that before, too, though. Funny how often people don’t explore what’s in their own backyard. We also live in a touristy area of our state and have a bucket list of places we want to visit. For us, it’s often the tourists that keep us away!

Oh my, what a month it has been!  October saw our biggest dent in debt since we started on this journey.  Deciding to sell our travel trailer (painful as it was to see it go) was a smart move.  I have no regrets, especially considering how much debt we were able to pay off in doing […]
