Heat Please!

January 11, 2022 By: Lucy4 Comments

Oh my, it has been cold here the past few days.  We are talking subzero temperature, add the windchill, and brrr, is it ever frigid!  We always get a massive drift right in front of our garage with the high winds.  To get my car out of the garage and pick up Hubs, I had to break apart the hard drifted snow and then shovel!  Given how cold it was, I did just enough to get out, hence not starting the snowblower.  Hubs later cleared the remainder but waited until the winds subsided.

We attend an informal Bible study with three other couples on Monday nights.  I think it is 25% Bible study and 75% chitchat.   We rotate homes, but our house isn’t included during winter.  Our steep driveway keeps people away.  Our road can also be treacherous, so much that even UPS and FedEx won’t make deliveries during the winter.  That’s all part of life when you live in the boonies!

Before we went to Bible study, Hubs started his rig.  After sitting for a day, these trucks take time to warm up!  At first, he couldn’t get it started.  He took his phone out to call for service but then gave the truck one last try.  It was a hard start, but Hubs got it going.  A relief as otherwise it would have meant a couple of hours waiting for a service truck.  So rather than put his phone back into his bag, he gave it to me.  I put it on the in-car charger.

Since Hubs leaves early in the morning, we have learned it works better to drop him off at night.  He is fine staying in his rig, and it sure beats getting up at 3 AM to warm up his truck.  After Bible study (10-ish), I dropped him off and drove the seven miles back home.  I wasn’t even in the house for a minute when I realized Hubs hadn’t taken his phone.  Ugh.  So, I had no choice but to get back in the car and bring it to him.  Hubs realized he didn’t have his phone and was trying to figure out how to contact me.  All ended well, so that’s the main thing.

Today was another cold day.  I stayed in all day but was crazy busy with phone calls and text messages.  Our son has a potential buyer for MIL’s house.  This person is so interested that he has walked around the house and property twice.  The possible offer is significantly higher than what the nasty SIL is willing to pay for the home.  Our son will be showing this person the inside of the house later this week.  Not sure where all this will go, but our son did tell this potential buyer not to get his hopes up due to the situation with nasty SIL.  It sure would be a relief to get this home sold.

I have a good friend who lives in the same state as you and she is always complaining about the cold! You get a lot more sub-zero temps than we do. I also have friends in Florida who think anything below 70 is winter coat weather. Lol

BRRR is right! We are definitely having a heat wave today at 40 degrees 🙂 Keeping fingers crossed the house sale can go through.

40 degrees would feel like a heat wave! I would love nothing more than for there to be a bidding war between nasty SIL and this potential buyer.

Just when you think things can’t get any worse, they can!

You read the post title correctly.  Just when you think things can’t get any worse, they can, and they have.  No, no, no.  I’m feeling weak (and cold!) and seriously can’t take much more!
