Being mad won’t change what happened

August 12, 2017 By: Lucy6 Comments

The day spent on my side business was a good day until I saw what someone did to my car. Not entirely sure where it happened as it could have been any number of places. As you can see by the picture, someone damaged the front bumper of my car.  So kind of them to take personal responsibility by leaving a note.  Yeah, right.  That didn’t happen.

I’m not going to lie and say that I wasn’t mad when I first saw the damage, because I was! You know what, though? Although I do feel justified in feeling angry about the situation, it really won’t change what happened. We will have a body shop give us an estimate and take it from there. We will also contact our insurance agent as this was no fault of mine and ask about filing a claim. My guess is our deductible will be more than the actual repair cost, but it never hurts to run it by our agent. We may also get sticker shock and just live with the damage. Always something in life, isn’t there?

Business wise, my day was very productive. I accomplished what I set out to do. Funds in my business account are a tad lower than I like right now on account of having put everything on the back burner while I worked my seasonal job, so I do need to step up the pace! Earlier this year I also hired a bookkeeper to handle the sales tax end of things, so that also took a bite out of my profits. Taxes (both personal and business) always leave my head spinning, so I feel better about having someone help keep me not only legal but also out of prison stripes. Lol. For those wondering what I do, I am a third party seller on Amazon. You can read more about it HERE.  It is an excellent business, especially for anyone like myself who needs flexibility in their schedule.

I read a little more of Business Boutique by Christy Wright, and the book continues to motivate me. If not for my severe RLS (restless legs syndrome) which limits my ability to comfortably sit and read in the evening, I’d have the book finished by now. I need more daytime hours to read!  The book is a keeper, and even though I haven’t yet completed reading it, I give it a thumbs up and strongly encourage anyone starting a business or already owning a business to pick up a copy.

My goal for the weekend…finish reading the book!

Hubby just got a ding in his side door from somebody’s lawn mower spewing a rock. Oops and Ugh!
    Cost to fix: $400.
With our $500 deductible, not going to be fixed. DH will just live with it.
The ding/dent also lowers the value of the car. Hubby is pissed for sure.
But, as you say, nothing will be gained by being mad.

Ouch! That is what I’m afraid may be the case. I can’t justify spending that kind of money right now, so we will probably just need to live with it. Grr.

that’s a big bummer about your car! Kind of how we felt finding the dent in the side of our car (and then figuring out the neighbor kid ran into it with his bike). We’re just living with it

I have RLS as well, and putting Frankencense on the back of my knees helps tremendously. And my mom swears by a bar of Irish Spring soap at the bottom of her bed by her feet under the covers.

Boo on the car damage, there is so little accountability these days.

Frankincense, now that is one I’ve never heard of! I’ve been on medication for over 20 years, and am now dealing with augmentation. Sigh. Like in your case, my mom (and also my grandmother) also suffered from the disease.

2020 Goals

“If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time.” Zig Ziglar I’ve always loved that quote by Zig Ziglar because there is so much truth behind it.  Goals are so important for making things happen.  I know that our quest to get debt free (minus the mortgage) wouldn’t have happened had we not […]
