Motivational Monday 1/13/2020

January 13, 2020 By: Lucy4 Comments

Not bad for a Monday!

Because sometimes we could all use a little motivation.

Week number two of Motivational Monday!  I’m pleased to say that my MTurk earnings were far better than last week.  Today I moved $57.58 from our checking to our remodel fund, bringing our new total to a nice even $60.00.  With a goal of $2020, I *cough* only have $1960 more to go!

Although I’m only at $60, I like having this separate savings account.  Seeing even this small amount saved towards our goal is encouraging.  Sure, mathematically speaking, this money would be better off applied to our mortgage.  But, by allowing myself to put MTurk earnings into this separate account, I also feel it motivates me to earn even more.

How are you doing with your extra earning goals for the year?  Maybe a bit nosy, but who isn’t curious how much others are earning…and how they are going about it!

I have almost enough for $25 on Swagbucks gift code – will probably get Amazon for one of the kids. I used the bonus points we got when we charged our garage door (already paid it off) and got almost $200 worth of gift cards for Christmas. So far my total in gift cards for Christmas (including the $25 Swagbucks I will get soon) is $219. I’m VERY excited!!! As we do these home repairs and get the bonus points using the credit card, (will be paid off IMMEDIATELY) Christmas should be done and then I can get Amazon cards to order pool chemicals, toiletries, etc. saving us a lot of money.

Met with our financial advisor today and maxed out our IRAS for last year and then upped our contributions to max out this year – we are getting there, SLOWLY, but surely. Dh is at an age now where he can work full-time AND collect his social security which we didn’t know, so he recently applied for that and since we have never seen it or needed to use it, we will put it directly into an IRA so that we don’t get hit with that income when doing our taxes.

Other than that I am keeping track of absolutely EVERYTHING this year so I know where our money is going – something I honestly have never known. I guess I have rattled on YOUR BLOG long enough :).

That is fantastic, Sue! Anything to increase your earnings! I’m not against using credit cards, providing they are used responsibly (fixed expenses and paid off immediately) as the rewards do add up. You are doing so good with your retirement! Good for you for finding the increase with the social security! I am in agreement with tracking EVERYTHING. I’m already seeing that I am spending less by doing this.

I resale on e-bay for a little (and I do mean little) extra income. I occasionally help someone get started trading stocks and also take a high paying “mystery shop” now and then. I wait for the mystery shopping company to call me.

Every little bit helps! I used to do a little selling on eBay. It is always fun watching what sells and for how much!

Baby Steps

Today I felt like I was taking a lot of baby steps to get through the day.  I know I can’t continue to mope about our lost dog.  Doing so doesn’t change the situation.  At this point, I need to remind myself of the good times we had with him, and give his brother extra […]
