Plugging Away

May 19, 2019 By: Lucy10 Comments

I’m still here and still plugging away at our darned debt.  There hasn’t been a lot going on, hence the lack of posts.  I did manage to send another $450 to our furnace debt, bringing the balance down to $4,900.  No change with our Visa as the billing cycle doesn’t close for another week or so.  When the bill does come, I’m ready!

One thing I tend to look at a lot is our financial numbers.  Having such an irregular income sure can be challenging when it comes to this sort of thing!  I guess the best thing we can do is remain focused and keep attacking our debt with a vengeance.  I want this debt gone, and it can’t seem to happen fast enough!

I’ve continued doing M-Turks.  I’m up to $100 so far for the month and close to cashing out for yet another $25.  For the record, I’m not spending countless hours working it, so for me, it is worth it.  Today I’m up to almost $8, which is rare for a weekend day.

Not debt related but is anyone else having trouble commenting on blogs using Blogspot?  I’ve noticed that the site comes up as not secure and I’m wondering if that has something to do with it?  Lately, I can’t seem to get any of my comments to post.   Any ideas as to why this is happening?  For the bloggers on this platform, I am reading, but for whatever reason, can’t seem to post.  Grr!

This entire weekend has been nothing but rain.  So far, except for one small area, our basement has remained dry.  My hunch is the cause is related to our deck collapse and the water now funneling towards the house.  I called the insurance adjuster a week ago about coming back out but have yet to hear anything more from him.  A little communication would be helpful, so we know where we stand.

My neighbor from a few doors down called earlier today.  With all this rain, they had another 6 inches of water in their crawl space.  She seemed quite indifferent about it.  For me, I’d be very concerned!  Nothing like having a pond underneath your house! Good grief!

Lucy, glad to hear you are keeping on being faithful to paying off your debt. I wanted to say that some of the blogs I follow that are on Blogspot, I have to comment using our desktop computer, instead of my phone or iPad.

Things are fine here, I am keeping to our new routine since paying off the mortgage earlier in the year. We got the first bill for our property taxes yesterday, but I have been using a sinking fund and have the $$ to pay them.

I am so proud of you getting your mortgage paid off! I feel the difference with each debt we’ve paid off, but I can’t even begin to imagine how it will feel once our house is paid off!

I haven’t had trouble commenting on Blogspot blogs lately . . . usually. I just figure it’s a blip when it happens. If it’s happening to you, too, maybe they are working on something behind the scenes. Who knows?

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your neighbor’s crawl space. I hope it dries out soon.

Yay for you and M-Turks. Every little bit helps.:-)

It seems to be an on-off thing with my commenting. So strange. I may fire up my older (and much slower) computer to see if that helps.

So glad you haven’t had any water – hope things don’t get worse for your neighbor!! It is so hard to keep going on when you want the debt gone so badly. I find myself wishing the time away for the next payday so I can pay down even more – I don’t want to wish my life away because of debt, but I feel like I’m underwater while we have it – vicious cycle!!!! We just have to keep going and remember there IS life at the end of the tunnel!!! I’m having trouble responding to a LOT of blogs but it is random…weird.

I am beginning to feel the same way ~ like I am wishing my life away waiting for the next payday. But, on the bright side, the debt is going down! Woohoo!

It is hard to stay motivated especially when your income fluctuates, but hang in there, we will both get to the end.

All the ups and downs do get tiring. We will get there!

I am getting very weary of debt pay off. I feel like I am on a tread mill and it will never stop. Then I ask myself will things really be any different> In some ways yes. But in some ways no. We will still be frugal and we will eat and sleep and do chores. So I kick myself in the butt and say get to work doing something useful. We are almost there, less than a year for the house and hopefully sooner.

I’ve been giving some thought to this and I agree, I don’t think a lot will change. We will still need to watch our money, lest we end up right back where we started. Being out of the bondage of debt, however, will be so freeing!

Do not give up!

I will be productive, I will be productive, I will be productive! Oh yes I will! After a day like yesterday, I need to get moving and do something productive today. There was nothing particularly wrong with yesterday, I think it was just a combination of a lot of little things. I hadn’t slept well, […]
