8+ hours to update a new GPS?

Sorry for my no show on blogging yesterday.  My DH asked me to update his newly purchased GPS.  Shouldn’t have been a big deal, but it took well over 8 hours.  Crazy!  Using my smartphone, I googled to see if this was “normal” which apparently it is.  While I could have still used my pc, I didn’t want to push my luck as DH absolutely needed to have it by the time he was ready to head back out. I also do have a tablet and netbook, but I find typing on those gadgets cumbersome.  So, a day later, here I am.

Pretty sure I did have a touch of some bug on Monday, but thankfully after an insane amount of sleep, I am feeling much better.  I’ve heard a lot of other people coming down with similar symptoms.  I was fortunate that whatever this ailment was, it didn’t stick around too long.  Thank you for all the well wishes.
Yesterday DH inquired with a dealership and also a small mom and pop type of car business as to how much they thought our car might be worth.  In both cases, they said the best option would be selling it ourselves.  No great surprise there.  DH is now thinking that perhaps we should actually keep the car and switch off with our Winter car.  I see pros and cons to both sides.  Our current Winter vehicle is getting up there in miles so parking it for the Summer might not necessary be a bad thing.  I was really just hoping to dump the payment and have more for our snowball.  Since Winter doesn’t look like it is going anywhere any time soon, we have time to think about it. DH has a sister that does this with two vehicles and it seems to work out well for her.  Decreasing the insurance is key though as that saves a lot of money on the premium.  I really dislike feeling so wishy washy on things.
We had our propane tanks topped off.  $429.50 which was for a little over 400 gallons.  Our initial fill was the middle of November last year.  Based on this, we shouldn’t need a refill until Summer of 2018.  Prices are usually the lowest in July.  We have a gas stove and hot water heater so there will still be some usage, but not enough to need a refill this coming July.
Today is the day my kids and their spouses go see Dave Ramsey and his daughter Rachel Cruze live.  I am beyond excited to hear all about it.  No one wants to see their kids make the same mistakes they made.  I hope this event keeps them from going down the same road we did.  At the very least, they will have heard the information.
March 1st.  We are entering our third official month of working the Dave Ramsey plan.  So far, so good!  Have you drawn that line in the sand and made the decision to change the way you handle your finances?  If not, what are you waiting for?  No better time like the present to get serious!  Join me today!

Our neighbors just had their propane filled the other day. DH went outside to talk to the propane guy. We've never had propane before so he had a couple of questions for the guy. Ours was last filled in August when it was .99/gal so we are hoping ours lasts until next summer to fill again when it's cheapest. He said it should last that long. We are at like 38% now and weather should start warming up soon. I'm anxious to hear how your kids liked the Dave Ramsey event.

How big is your propane tank? We have two 1000 gallon tanks which is a bit unusual. The previous owner had put them in place (thankfully in the woods a good distance from the house and out of view) so we'll just keep both of them. At his point in the season, you should be fine at 38%. Some companies will offer a pre-buy or locked price, so that might be something for you to look into as well. No word from my kids about the Dave Ramsey event yet, but they are three hours behind me so it's still fairly early for them. I'll keep you posted.

I'm not sure how big it is, I think it like 800-1000 gallons. Sits right in our little back yard. Ugliest thing ever LOL.

Ha ha! I agree, they really are ugly to look at and given their size, so hard to hide!

Sending another snowball to the Visa

The statement for our Visa came via email during the night.  The minimum payment is $78.  The interest charged was $26.78.  I’ve gone ahead and scheduled a payment for tomorrow for $126.74.  That will more than take care of the minimum and also cover the interest.  Balance goes down to $3,500!
