We are DEBT-FREE (minus the mortgage)!!!!

October 25, 2019 By: Lucy34 Comments

Hey friends, we did it!  With the exception of our mortgage, we are officially debt-free!  I’m still having some computer issues, so this post will again be brief.  I did, however, want to pop in and share a couple of screenshots.  The first one is what we paid during the previous billing cycle.  Wow, is that ever a lot of money.  All I can say at this point is never again!

This second screenshot is from our new statement.  I’m not sure why they didn’t charge us interest.  When I read the fine print, it looked to me that we would incur some, hence paying the extra $30.  I’ll leave it for another month and then request it back.  I guess I’m paranoid, and I don’t want to take any chances of having any new debt!

I’ll be heading out of town next week for a few days to see family and get my computer back up and running safely.  If for some reason I’m not able to pop back in (the computer I’m using right now is super slow), I’ll be back to posting in a week or so.  Thanks for all the encouragement you have given me on this journey!

Congratulations, you have worked hard for this. I follow a couple of bloggers who always have a reason to add to the debt. Makes me crazy.

Thanks! Unfortunately, we did add to our debt three times. First was for an unexpected surgery (Hubs hernia), the second was for our mortgage refi (we went from 30 yr to a 15 and decreased our interest from 4.5% down to 3.25. No cash out, but we rolled in the closing costs) and lastly there was our furnace replacement. At least two items were needs and the refi was a positive change since we are saving a lot on interest!

I’m so excited for you – and inspired – we have a ways to go, but WE CAN DO IT and it helps to know it can be done!!!! Still have to do a virtual happy dance, but I’m doing it 🙂

Lucy, a big congrats to you and your husband! You have attacked this debt with unwavering tenacity. It must be such a relief to have this behind you. Now, go get treat yourself to a hot fudge sundae. (That is what I would do. LOL)

Thanks, Isabella! It is a huge relief. As for the sundae, I did indulge in a chocolate shake a few days ago! Other than the calories, I felt zero guilt! Lol

Busy Busy Busy!

Oh my.  What a busy week we just had.  Hubs was home for an entire week, and we were on the go pretty much non-stop.  This time he flew back and forth, which for me, also meant making two trips to the airport.  No complaints as he is well worth it!
